Precise Biometrics combined smartcard and fingerprint sensor. Precise 100 MC, the second-generation combined fingerprint and smart card reader, takes performance one step further. The product is optimized for Precise Match-on-Card™ technology, which allows increased security, since the storing and matching of fingerprints takes place in the closed environment of a smart card.
Precise Biometrics fingerprint sensor. Precise 100 AX is a fingerprint reader for PC and network access control. Fingerprints replace passwords and make the logon procedure quick and easy for the user. By using Precise 100 AX, it is possible to achieve an increased level of security in line with existing IT policies while saving time and money on password administration issues.
If you are a large or small organisation (based in Scotland or the North of England), wishing to improve computer security, then online-edge can help. We explain the risks and recommend sensible and cost-effective solutions, in language that non-experts can understand. In fact, our company philosophy is based on being easy to work with. In short, we talk -
"IT SECURITY in PLAIN LANGUAGE".
HOW DO BIOMETRICS WORK ?
With only your fingerprint, you can verify yourself and log onto your workstation or server by using Precise Biometrics' unique system. This system consists of a fingerprint reader with user-friendly software administration. The reader is connected to a PC running Precise Biometrics' software for fingerprint matching, allowing quick and easy log-ons to be achieved. Furthermore, significant savings can be achieved as traditional methods of managing passwords are abolished.
Passwords are the most commonly used method of identifying computer system users, but users often forget them! There is also a real risk that hacker can crack the typical password in just a matter of minutes!
But you can't forget your fingerprint. It can't be borrowed, copied or substituted. And it's never disputed!
Precise Biometrics provide fingerprint and smartcard readers based on Precise BioMatch™ and Match-on-Card™ technologies provide reliable proof that people are who they claim to be.
A Unique Fingerprint System A majority of other fingerprint verifications are based on a system developed by the FBI in the 1970s. They use points in the fingerprint (called minutiae) to match identification.
Precise Biometrics has developed a completely new method for verifying a fingerprint. It is based on pattern recognition and reads the complete fingerprint, including the curve of the fingertip, three-dimensionally. The amount of information measured is three to ten times greater than information measured by earlier readers.
Real-time Matching The reading is made using silicon sensors. When the user places a finger on the reader, the fingerprint's template is read by the silicon sensor and stored in encrypted form on a hard drive or on a smart card. Mathematical analyses are then performed using a selection of algorithms that can be converted into a digital system.
By using Biometric Authentication, access to a wide variety of systems can be made EASIER for users, but HARDER for the unauthorised hacker, whether malicious or just plain curious.
